Different Week 2011 // Semana Diferente 2011

It has been a while since we have updated the blog and you can imagine that in the meanwhile a lot has been going on. One of the highlights with which we closed off a great and challenging 2011 was the “Semana Diferente” (Different Week).

On December 16th early in the morning, busses left to pick up our friends from the Huarpe Community in LaValle. We welcomed more than 500 people for 5 days at our home in Borbollon, Mendoza. The theme of this Semana Diferente was “The time is now”, the time to have an encounter with Jesus so that He can transform our lives and our family. It was a week in which the people enjoyed spending time together, workshops on different topics (addictions, marriage, personal hygiene), great food, the pool, and all kinds of other activities like going to the aquarium for the kids, visiting the spa in the mountains for the women, a soccer tournament or rafting on Mendoza river for the youth. We enjoyed a great talent show as well in which there were different presentations like the police band, tango, folklore, a play, karaoke and much more. As well there was a medical team, including dentists, from Puerto Rico present to provide medical care and supply us with medication for the pharmacy.

The cherry on top was our Christmas night in which we all enjoyed a great barbeque and everybody received a gift.

We would like to thank all of you who were part of this Semana Diferente in prayer, donations and finances. As well a big hand to all the volunteers that came out to help us! Without you this wouldn’t have been possible! God was very faithful in supplying everything that we needed to make this an unforgettable Semana Diferente for our friends of the Huarpe Community.

Ha pasado un largo rato desde la última actualización y ustedes se pueden imaginar que en este último tiempo muchas cosas pasaron. Cerramos 2011 con la Semana Diferente, un evento para nuestros amigos Huarpes del campo de Lavalle.

El 16 de Diciembre, bien de mañana, los colectivos salieron desde Las Heras para buscar nuestros amigos en Lavalle. Les dimos la bienvenida a más que 500 personas, quienes se quedaron en nuestro hogar en el Borbollón, Mendoza. El lema de esta Semana Diferente fue “Ahora es el tiempo”, el tiempo para tener un encuentro con Jesús para que Él pueda transformar nuestras vidas y nuestra familia. Fue una semana en la que la gente pudo disfrutar de pasar tiempo juntos, los diferentes talleres (adiciones, matrimonio, higiene personal), la comida espectacular, la pileta grande y otros tipos de actividades como salidas al acuario para los ninos, visitando las termas de Cacheuta para las mujeres, un torneo de futbol para los varones y rafting en el Rio Mendoza para los jóvenes. También disfrutamos una noche de talentos con diferentes presentaciones de la banda de la Policía, tango, folklore, una obra de teatro, karaoke y mucho mas. Además había un equipo médico, incluido dentistas, que brindaron un gran servicio.

La frutilla del postre fue la noche de Navidad en la que todos nosotros disfrutamos un rico asado y todos recibieron una caja llena con regalos.

Nos gustaría agradecer a todos ustedes quienes fueron parte de esta Semana Diferente con sus oraciones, donaciones y dinero. Así también la gran mano y el gran esfuerzo de todos los voluntarios para ayudarnos. Sin ustedes esto no hubiese sido posible! Dios es super fiel y supliendo todo lo que necesitábamos para hacer de esto una inolvidable Semana Diferente para nuestros amigos de la Comunidad Huarpe.

International day for the elimination of violence against women // Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia Contra la Mujer

Friday, November 25 with the ministry “The Cry of Silence” we went out to the neighborhood, the municipality, and to the centre to participate in the International day for the elimination of violence against women. In the community centre in the neighborhood we gave organized a tea and gave a workshop on prevention of violence against women.

“The Cry of Silence” is a ministry of YWAM Mendoza, focused on informing and raising awareness on prevention of violence against women, domestic and family violence, child abuse, and human trafficking. Raising our voice for the ones that cannot speak!




El Viernes 25 de Noviembre con nuestro ministerio “El Grito del Silencio” fuimos al barrio, la municipalidad y el centro de la ciudad para participar del Día Internacional de la Eliminación de la Violencia Contra de la Mujer. En el CIC (Centro Integrador Comunitario) de nuestro barrio organizamos un té y dimos un taller acerca de la prevención de violencia en contra la mujer.

“El Grito del Silencio” es un ministerio de JuCUM Mendoza, que se enfoca e informa sobre violencia de género, violencia familiar, abuso infantil y trata de personas. Levantando nuestra voz por aquellos que no pueden hablar!

Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages // Enseñando Inglés como Segundo Idioma

Right after the conference we received Douglas Sadler from YWAM Canada. For 2 weeks he taught us all about Teaching English to Speakers of Other Languages (TESOL). We were 13 students from Puerto Rico, Argentina, the United States, England, Canada and the Netherlands taking this course. It was challenging, but we all had a great time and realized how important the ministry of interpretation and teaching is in extending God´s Kingdom!

Directamente después la conferencia recibimos a Douglas Sadler de JuCUM Canadá. Durante 2 semanas nos enseñó todo acerca de Enseñar Inglés a Personas que Hablan Otro Idioma (TESOL). Estuvimos 13 estudiantes de Puerto Rico, Argentina, Estados Unidos, Inglaterra, Canadá y los Países Bajos. Fue desafiante, pero todos tuvimos un tiempo muy lindo y nos dimos cuenta cuán importante es el ministerio de interpretación y enseñanza para extender el Reino de Dios!

National Conference YWAM Argentina 2011 // Conferencia Nacional JuCUM Argentina 2011

And we´re back after a month of no posting, but that definitely doesn´t mean we have been sitting still! By no means! We have been working very hard to prepare everything for the National Conference of YWAM Argentina 2011. We had the privilege to receive more than 400 YWAM-ers at our Mission in Mendoza! It was a great challenge, but we pulled it off because God was in EVERY single detail! It was an amazing time of receiving the best of God, catching up with old friends and making new ones, capacitating ourselves in different workshops, enjoying delicious food, great worship and preaching!!

Thank you all for being part of this and we are already looking forward to next year!

Y aquí estamos de vuelta, después de un mes de no subir una entrada. Pero esto no significa que no hayamos hecho nada! Al contrario! Estuvimos trabajando mucho prepararando todo para la Conferencia Nacional de JuCUM Argentina 2011. Tuvimos el privilegio de recibir más que 400 JuCUMeros en nuestra Misión en Mendoza! Fue un desafío grande pero lo logramos porque Dios estaba en CADA detalle! Fue un tiempo hermoso de recibir lo mejor de Dios, encontrándonos con nuestros viejos amigos y haciendo nuevos, capacitándonos en diferentes talleres, disfrutando comida deliciosa, alabanza maravillosa y predicaciones!

Gracias a todos los que pudieron ser parte de esto y ya estamos esperando la próxima conferencia!

Biblical Studies Seminary “Rejoice in difficulties!” //Seminario de Estudios Biblicos “Alégrense en medio de la dificultad!”

Two weeks ago we had the honor of having Cesar Arreaza of the base in Corrientes with us to teach in the second module of the Biblical Studies Seminary. During this module we looked more closely at the inductive method and studied the letter to the Philippians. It was a very intense week but as we’ve learned we will rejoice in all circumstances and we could really experience that “I can do everything through Him who gives me strength!”


La semana antepasada tuvimos el honor de tener a Cesar Arreaza de la base de Corrientes con nosotros para enseñarnos el segundo modulo del seminario de Estudios Bíblicos. Durante estos días profundizamos en el método inductivo y estudiamos la carta a los filipenses. Fue una semana muy intensa, pero como lo aprendimos nos alegramos en todas las circunstancias y realmente hemos podido experimentar que “todo lo puedo en Cristo que me fortalece!”

The opening ceremony of the Frontier Missions School 2011 // Apertura de la Escuela de Misiones Transculturales 2011

Wednesday 21st of September we celebrated the opening of another School of Frontier Missions (SOFM). We have a great group of 14 students from Argentina, Ecuador, the Netherlands, Colombia, Peru, and the Dominican Republic. The theme of the School is “Leaving behind all fear to walk in His dreams and write our history in the nations”, inspired by 2 Cor 20:17. We have great expectations of what God is going to do in this time!



El Miércoles 21 de Septiembre celebramos la apertura de otra Escuela de Misiones Transculturales (EDMT). Tenemos un lindo grupo de 14 estudiantes de Argentina, Ecuador, Países Bajos, Colombia, Perú y la República Dominicana. El lema de la Escuela es “Dejando todo el temor para caminar en Sus sueños y escribir nuestra historia en las naciones”, inspirado en 2 Cor. 20:17. Tenemos grandes expectativas de lo que Dios va a hacer en este tiempo!
