Semana Diferente!!

Please excuse the tardiness in posting a blog! We have been super busy with the holidays and conferences since Semana Diferente ended. We've attended two conferences since the beginning of January. New Year's Day we headed to Cordoba, Argentina for a Transcultural Missions Conference held by "Red Mundial" and on the 12th we headed to Santiago, Chile for a YWAM Conference for the southern cone of South America. Bases from Chile, Argentina, Bolivia, Paraguay and Uruguay were represented.

....back to Semana Diferente. This year we saw God work tremendously in the Huarpe community. For one week the base hosted over 700 participants from the Huarpe community and over 150 volunteers. The community was very open this year, both in relationship and in hearing the gospel. There were activities for all age groups...sports, games, spa/salon, a baby shower, a Ronald McDonald visit, rafting and climbing, an overnight married couples retreat to the mountains, fun in the pool, a soccer tournament and much, much more!!! As well, this year we held the first Semana Diferente medical clinic throughout the week. Each morning doctors attended participants. We had a general practicioner, a dentist, an optometrist and a pharmacy on site.

On the last night of the week we held a Christmas celebration with a feast and a nativity play. Each participant went away with a gift.

Each year Semana Diferente is a walk of faith. It is a work of collaboration among YWAM staff, churches, local businesses, friends and volunteer teams to line up transportation, look for donations, organize logistics for the week and carry out each activity. We were blessed with many teams this year from different cities around Argentina and from our directors' church in Puerto Rico. This year their church in Puerto Rico sent a team of over 50 volunteers to assist in the medical clinic and in several other areas. Their contribution to this year's Semana Diferente was a tremendous blessing and definitely gave a unique touch to the event!

Thank you to all who helped make this event happen!

....volviendo a La Semana Diferente.
