May-time in Mendoza/ Mayo Empieza en Mendoza
So we’re off to a great May-start here at YWAM Mendoza, with the Mercy DTS already in its third week and the rest of us running non-stop with about a million different things (not to exaggerate, of course.)
Last week the girls from the football DTS and a bunch of our female staff played the local girls football team here from Algorrobal, for the second time, and beat them, woo hoo! It was a complete triumph, and our chicas were well chuffed with themselves, considering that they got a little trounced the last time—they don’t get much time to practice playing as team, what with the million things going on.
Then, on Friday night, we had a massive "Nations Fair" right here at the base, with everyone who comes from countries other than Argentina (and the Argentines themselves) using all their resourcefulness and imagination to create a real "travel experience." We had stands from Puerto Rico, India, Australia, the States, England, Canada, China, Holland, South Africa, Kazakhstan, you name it. Not to mention the food! Somebody give me that recipe for a YWAM friendly Puerto Rican Piña Colada please? Or, Dutch apple pie? Oh, the delights. It was a great night and we even broke out a little dancing at the end, perhaps brought on by the exhaustion of a packed four hours trying to get the evening firmly organised after a long week and too much fabulous Indian food.... life is good.
Bueno nosotros estamos empezando el mes bien acá en Mendoza, con la EDE de Misericordia ya en la tercera semana y los de más corriendo con millones de otras cosas (pero no exageramos, saben?)
La semana pasada todas las chicas de la EDE de fútbol y unas de las obreras de la base jugaron con un equipo de acá cerquita en Algorrobal, por segunda vez,¡ y lo vencieron! Fue un verdadero triumfo, y nuestras chicas estuvieron re contentas, especialmente porque fueron ganadas la ultima vez—generalmente no tienen mucho tiempo para practicar como equipo, con las millones de cosas que siempre están pasando acá.
También el viernes a la noche, tuvimos una "Feria de Naciones" acá misma en la base, donde todas las personas de muchas distintas naciones usaron toda su imaginacion para crear una ‘experiencia de viaje.’ Tuvimos stands de Puerto Rico, India, Australia, el EEUU, Inglaterra, Canadá, China, Holanda, Sudafrica y Kazakstan.¡Y la comida! ¿Alguien me puede conseguir esa receta por la Piña Colada Puerto Riqueña? ¿O tarta de manzana Holandez? Oh, las manjares. Fue una noche muy linda y aún bailamos un poquito al fin, quizas por el cansancio de cuatro horas locas de preparacion, o por demasiado comida de India.... la vida es buena.
