The Borbollón Prison/La Cárcel del Borbollón

A few ago a ministry was started by visiting the women at the prison near our neighborhood, El Borbollón. We started going because a Russian girl arrived and the prison asked us for help since she couldn´t speak any Spanish. We had been praying for years for an open door into the prison. This was an answer to prayer. So we began to visit her, encouraging and loving her in the Lord.

We continued visiting the prison even though, many weeks, it was difficult. It is not an easy ministry to be a part of because the tension that there is there and because it can be difficult to enter. But, I have to say, that we are enjoying the ministry.

Three week ago, a woman from Canada arrived. She was arrested for having 5 kilos of cocaine in her suitcase. At first I think she just liked being able to speak english with us and telling us her story. But now, thanks to God, she is reading the Bible and some other books that talk about the love of God and Christianity. Her situation is really delicate because she has two children; a five year old boy and a fourteen year old girl. Her daughter is living with whomever and her son is up for adoption. She has a very difficult background. She never wanted to hear anything about God or about Christianity. She was hurt by false Christians in her life. So we are very happy that she is now opening up to us and better yet, to God.

Life in the womens prison is very difficult. The women are faced each day with the illegal entry and use of drugs, unneccessary medication administered by the prison nurse, bad treatment from the prison guards, inmates stealing personal items and much more. At the same time they worry about the well-being of their families on the outside and as well about their court case and sentencing process.

Almost all of the women that are in the prison are there because of drug trafficking. It is interesting to see how big the drug business is in the world. Since we´ve been visiting, in this prison alone, we have seen women from Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Russia, Malaysia and now, Canada.

Please be praying with us for this woman and for the others that we are visiting and ministering to in the prison. As well, be praying about this drug business and about how it is destroying the lives of these woman and their children.

Hace pocos años empezamos a visitar la cárcel de Mujeres del Borbollón comenzando un ministerio allí. En un inicio, fuimos por la llegada de una chica de Rusia que no hablaba nada de español. Tradujimos para ella, e intentamos animarla y amarla en el Señor. Siempre habíamos intentado entrar a la cárcel, pero nunca pudimos hasta entonces. Fue una respuesta de mucha oración.

Continuamos yendo a la cárcel y llegó a ser aun muy difícil algunas semanas. No es un ministerio fácil, por la tensión que hay y las dificultades para entrar. Pero quiero contarles de qué manera estamos disfrutando este difícil ministerio.

Tres semanas atrás, llegó una mujer de Canadá, quien fue arrestada por llevar en su maleta, 5 kilos de cocaína. Pienso que al principio, ella sólo quería hablar inglés y compartir su historia. Ahora, gracias a Dios, está leyendo la Biblia y otros de nuestros libros que hablan del amor de Dios y el cristianismo. Tiene una situación delicada puesto que tiene dos hijos; un niño de 5 años y una adolescente de 14. La chica de 14 años no está viviendo en un lugar estable y el niño está en adopción. Tiene un trasfondo difícil y bastante fuerte. Nunca quizo nada con Dios ni con el cristianismo. Se sintió dañada por falsos cristianos en su vida. Por esto, estamos muy felices de su apertura hacia nostras, y lo mejor hacia a Dios.

La vida en la cárcel es muy difícil. Las mujeres tienen que enfrentar el tráfico interno de drogas y su uso allí, el medicamento innecesario dado por la enfermera, el mal trato de las guardias, el robo de las otras encarceladas, y otras cosas más, todos los días. Al mismo tiempo, están preocupadas por el bienestar de sus familias y por el proceso de su propia sentencia.

Casi todas de las mujeres en la cárcel están allí por causa del tráfico de drogas. Es impresionante ver lo grande que es este negocio en nuestro mundo. Tan sólo en esta cárcel hemos visto mujeres de Chile, Bolivia, Paraguay, Rusia, Malasia y ahora de Canadá.

Por favor estén orando con nosotros por su vida y por la vida de las otras chicas que también estamos viendo y ministrando en la cárcel. Oremos también en contra del negocio de las drogas y por cómo éste está destruyendo a las familias, las madres y sus niños.
