Team Aconcagua/Equipo Aconcagua

A couple of weeks ago Team Aconcagua headed into the mountains to the entrance of Aconcagua Provincial Park for a time of intercession and prayer. Towards the end of November/beginning of December a team from YWAM Mendoza will be making an attempt to reach the summit of the highest mountain (6962m/22,841ft.) in the Americas. The trek will be an outreach to the mountain climbing community. Each year thousands of hikers and climbers from all over the world descend upon the Argentine Andes for climbing and adventure.

The team is made up of YWAMers from Argentina, Colombia, Brazil, Switzerland, Canada and the U.S. As well as an opportunity to share their faith and share testimony that youth from different nations can work together as a team, the trek will be an opportunity to pray for and bless the nations from the highest point in the western hemisphere. The team will also be declaring Mendoza as a "City of Peace."

The expedition not only represents an obvious physical challenge, but a mental and spiritual challenge as well. In addition to regular fitness training at the pool and gym, the team gets together for prayer and fasting. There are still a few months to go! Please be praying for strength, perseverance, encouragement and for the finances of each member! There is a long list of clothing, equipment, permits and guide fees.

Hace unas semanas el equipo Aconcagua fue a las montañas para comparitr un tiempo de oración e intercesión en la entrada del Parque Provincial Aconcagua. A fines de noviembre/principios de diciembre, un equipo de JuCUM Mendoza estará intentando llegar a la cumbre del Aconcagua, el cerro más alto (6962m) de las américas; cuyo objetivo será alcanzar a la comunidad de los andinistas. Miles de turistas y andinistas de muchos lugares del mundo vienen a los Andes argentinos para hacer trekking, escalar y tener una aventura.

El equipo está conformado por Jucumeros de Argentina, Colombia, Brasil, Suiza, Canadá y EEUU. Para quienes será una oportunidad de compartir su fé y el testimonio de que jóvenes de distintos paises y trasfondos pueden trabajar en equipo; también lo será para orar y bendecir a las naciones desde el punto más alto del hemisferio occidental. El equipo estará también declarando a Mendoza como ¨Una Ciudad de Paz.¨

Esta expedición no sólo representa un claro desafío físico, sino también un desafío mental y espiritual. Además del entrenamiento regular en el gimnasio y la pileta, el equipo se reune para orar y ayunar. ¡Todavía quedan varios meses!
